About Sherry Ziegelmeyer
With over 18 years of promotions and publicity experience in the Los Angeles music and radio industry, Sherry already had a solid background in the techniques that attract media attention and generate public interest when she started working with Jay Moyes on promotions for Club Stiletto and various leather lifestyle groups in the LA area.
During the 80’s, Sherry worked publicity for a number of Hollywood bands, doing everything from sending out press kits to selling t-shirts. This old school education instilled a need for improvisational thinking and “outside the box” approaches to publicity campaigns. Later, she would channel this work into her positions with KLOS, KABC, KMPC, and Radio Disney. Sherry worked on the KLOS Community Switchboard, in the KABC/KMPC/Radio Disney Community Relations department, and also worked with the KLOS Creative Services team over an eight year period.
After “D’Mouse” took over operation of ABC owned KLOS/KABC, Sherry left the world of publicity for a time and took classes in Visual Basic programming and HTML coding. She worked tech jobs and channeled that knowledge into doing web design for a time. Along the way, she found an amazing publicity resource in the growing Internet community.
In 2003, Sherry and Jay met at a club called Stiletto, introduced by mutual friend Mistress Stephanie Locke. Together they helped promote the club on a lark and when everything came together beautifully, they began working together on a variety of projects for the leather community. With Jay’s encouragement, she decided to hang out her publicist’s shingle in 2004, launching Black and Blue Media, a publicity and public relations service.
Black and Blue Media’s first official publicity client was the production company, SLLAB. (That’s Balls spelled, backwards.) The first project was ArchAngel’s ‘The Vampire Chronicles”. Next up was the break-out horror-porn feature that truly put both SLLAB and Black and Blue Media on the entertainment industry’s radar, Frank Castle’s The New Neighbors. Through an intense marketing campaign, on the set coverage, and constant PR, the movie gained eight AVN Nominations, and has remained a major seller clear even today, despite an overall slump in the adult market.
The success of Sherry’s campaign for The New ‘Neighbors led to the additions of Platinum Blue Productions, Michael Ninn and a variety of other great companies to the Black and Blue Media client list.
In 2012, the release of Michael Ninn’s masterpiece ‘The Four’, pushed Black and Blue Media’s professional pedigree even further up the adult entertainment recognition ladder, by spotlighting the innovative and creative work Sherry and Jay bring to their client’s projects. From the ground breaking, first-ever, adult hardcore video related Alternate Reality Game (ARG), Kronos 480BC, to multiple award nominations for “Best Screenplay” and “Best Marketing Campaign for an Individual Title”.
